Install and Attach an Optical Drive

The optical disk drive, for example, slots in front of the bay opening. You have to slide it into the SATA connectors.

Remove the Panel from the Top of the Motherboard and Insert the Memory Fragments

The Motherboard panel can be a bit difficult to remove. At first, remove the screws and pull them out. Now you can install the SO-DIMM memory chips into their slots. 

Take your time to install these chips into your laptop build. Do not push them in. Instead, push them down, and they will click in their places.

Insert the Processor/CPU

You will see your CPU’s pins at its back. When you find an empty socket there, that is the portion to fit into the chassis slot.

When building your own laptop, use a flathead screwdriver to pry and turn the CPU socket lock towards the “unlocked” position. Now, insert the CPU’s missing pins notch over the chassis notch. 

Try not to push or force down the processor over this notch as it might damage the hardware. Be patient and take your time. Once the CPU slots over the intended socket, use your flat screwdriver to change the lock’s direction to the “locked” position.

Add in the Cooling Fan

At this stage of building a laptop, it is time to add in the cooling fan. Some CPUs come with a cooling fan. It will cool all the laptop components or just the CPU. 

While some cooler’s bottoms come with thermal paste, some might not. For the latter, apply some thermal paste before connecting it with the CPU.

The laptop shell’s vents and the cooler’s exhaust should fall in the same line. Wiggle the heatsink or heater parts instead of forcing them into the fan assembly.
